Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's achieved huge success with the tales she tells of her young heartbreak. Swift began to develop an interest in musical instruments as a young person and soon progressed from performing in kids' shows, and then making her first public appearance public. When she was 11 years old, she sang The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. next year, she picked up the guitar and began to write songs. Swift, who took her inspirations from Shania Twain's music and The Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks within the realm of country music, created the songs of her own to convey her experience with alienation. Swift's family relocated into Tennessee from Pennsylvania at the age of 13, so that she would have longer pursuing country music labels in Nashville.
